What is the difference between health insurance and a health plan?

without comments

- Chosen by Voters Health Insurance is:insurance against expenses incurred through illness of the insured. Health plan:a Choosing between health plans is not as easy as it once was. Although there is no one "best" plan, there are some plans that will be better than others for you and your family's health needs. Plans differ, both in how much you have to pay and how easy it is to get the services you need. Although no plan will pay for all the costs associated with your medical care, some plans will cover more than others.Go here to learn more…good luck Source(s): http://www.ahcpr.gov/consumer/hlthpln1.h… 6 years ago 50% 3 Votes

What do I need to get back to my parent's health insurance?

without comments

- Chosen by Voters Ask your school. I am sure they can recommend a local lab that will do the X-ray for a reasonable price.Unfortunately you need to be enrolled in school before you can be put on your mothers health insurance policy. That means you have to have the X-ray before you can get health coverage and in most cases your deductible would be high enough to where you have to pay for it anyway. 2 years ago 40% 2 Votes

Can your health insurance company raise your rates after you get sick?

without comments

If you're covered by GROUP insurance (through your employer, for example), your rates will NOT be raised simply because you got sick or injured. Those rates are based upon the group and while they may go up each year, they will NOT go up specifically for you. However, if you have an individual policy, your rates could possibly be increased if you have an influx of claims. Unlike someone above me said, this is EXACTLY like car insurance. Your car insurance (which is an individual policy) is likely to go up if you have a large claim. Same thing is true of individual medical coverage. It's just a sad fact of life. When you're not part of a group plan, you are shouldering all the risk yourself. So if you incur a lot of charges, you may very well see an increase. Source(s): 16 years in employee benefits/medical insurance 2 years ago good answer!

Can my son be covered under his father's girlfriends health insurance?

without comments

- Chosen by Voters It's possible, but not probable. Domestic partnership rules are different company to company so the getting a letter from the HR department acknowledging that they understand that it's her domestic partner's child is a good idea. You don't want a large claim to find out that it's going to be denied because they failed to mention that on the application. 3 years ago 100% 1 Vote

How does health insurance work – when insurance premium can generally increase?

without comments

No. The premiums will not go up for that. Usually health insurance is up for renewal once a year and the cost increases at that time, but not just because you use your policy. The cost of group health insurance where I work has had double digit increases in the premiums every year for 10 years now. The health insurance companies are out of control. If you have insurance and need health care – go get the care you need.
